By the time you read this
I will be transformed
A mutation is taking place
far from curious eyes

A butterfly will not emerge
No, nothing so profound
Perhaps a new being entirely
but something obscure

I know you won’t notice
You are not so astute
If it’s not in the mirror
it holds little fascination

A cutting of the cord
divides me from you
No longer your patsy
or whore – just me
