366 Days of Writing Prompts – Day 154

June 2, 2016

June 2 – The zone
Tell us about your favorite way to get lost in a simple activity
— running, chopping vegetables, folding laundry, whatever.
What’s it like when you’re in “the zone”?

The only times that I really get into ‘the zone’ are when I am researching, writing or watching something like a movie or documentary. When I am in that zone, all else around me just seems to disappear. I don’t see or hear things as easily (unless it is something that causes a gap moment – a raven’s caw, birds singing, people laughing, etc) because I am so focused on what I am doing or watching. If I am doing other simple activities like cooking, cleaning or something of that nature, I try to stay mindful – being present in the moment. I try to keep my zone moments for hard concentration things.

How about you, dear readers? What’s it like for you when you are in that zone? Share your thoughts with me in comments.

  1. Watching a Michael Jackson clip puts m in the zone. Or reading a good book. Or listening to a good music and writing. 🙂

  2. G. R. McNeese permalink

When I’m in a zone, I tune out everything else. My vision is laser-focused. Doesn’t matter if it’s a notebook, laptop, or phone. I’m not a fast typer, but they seem to go faster than normal. It’s hard for me to come to a stopping point because I want to get everything down on the page. Sometimes, it takes a phone call or an alarm to force me to stop. And even then, I won’t stop until I feel I reached that stopping point.

What's on your mind? Let me know!

It is all about words. Your words are enough to shatter someone's heart. Your words are enough to make a broken heart unbroken. Words have the power to change your life perspectives.
