366 Days of Writing Prompts – Day 115

April 24, 2016

Have you ever had a random encounter or fleeting moment
with a stranger that stuck with you?

I love meeting and engaging with strangers. When I say I have a serendipitous life, I am not being flippant about it. My life really does appear to be one happenstance moment after another and this usually involves the strangers I meet. What usually ends up a random chance meeting will quickly develop into a series of purposeful encounters. An innocent conversation will reveal something I’ve recently been researching or an article I’ve read, a quote I’ve heard or read, or a song I’ve recently heard. It’s not uncommon for a stranger and I to look agape at one another and say “You too?” Or we will discuss an issue or topic and for days afterwards, I will run into things dealing with that issue or topic. I may not always know who the stranger was or ask his/her name, but when one of this happenstance moments occur, I remember the full encounter in detail. This has happened so often in my life that I have a whole notebook filled with these snippets of moments.

How about you, dear readers? Any encounters with strangers that hold significance in your life? Share your thoughts with me in comments.
