Black Beauty #poetry #napowrimo
Prompt: I challenge you to spend some time looking at the names of heirloom plants, and write a poem that takes its inspiration from, or incorporates the name of, one or more of these garden rarities.
Black Beauty
I can see their faces
as I place you on the table
your dark beauty contrasts
with the white tablecloth
“It’s a plum!”
“No, it’s rotten!”
they will say
or “I’m not eating that!”
But my black beauty
I know what awaits inside
a delightful flavor
earthy and smooth
“There’s just more for me”
I will say with a laugh
take knife in hand, slice
and savor your darkness

I’ve never seen such a thing, not sure I’d eat it, unless introduced when my eyes were closed. LOL
*laughs* I am curious to see what they taste like. Wanted to order a plant, but they are out of stock. Apparently they are quite popular so they must be good 🙂
Me tooooo! My favorite is called Goatbag. You may know it’s not the prettiest tomato, but they’re perfect for raw consumption 🙂
Oooo I will have to look those up, Joey. Sometimes I think the not so pretty veggies taste the best 😀
Nice and very creative!
Thank you 🙂
