What She Said – #poetry #aprpad

April 2, 2016

Prompt: write a what he said and/or what she said poem

What She Said

she said I love you, baby
and oh how she meant it
six months of splendid bliss
ended by the greyhound

she said I was her everything
at the time, she meant it
but distance strips away
desire and intentions

she said we’ll battle cancer together
I am sure she meant it
but comfort is unobtainable
when you live in different countries

she said she was just a phone call away
but did she really mean it?
no call backs, no emails for months
worry turned to mourning to indifference

she said, “how’ve you been?”
eight months later
I said, “Can’t mourn you again”
and deleted her
