Sheltered – #Drabble
for 100 Word Challenge – Prompt: 100 Word Story minus Letter A
Li peered out the window. Ice fell in sheets. Covered the lucent glen. No moons to guide the men home. She fretted. Who would ring the tower bell? Surely not the women. They’d never crossed the glen. Forbidden by the Governed. But it needed to be rung.
Frightened, Li opened the door to her dwelling. Peeked out. No one lurked in the streets. Should she defy the Governed? Li put on her hooded robe. Ventured out. Forced herself on, pelted by ice. By the tower stood the sentry. Frozen. Li climbed the steps. Dinged the bell. No serpents this night.
