366 Days of Writing Prompts – Day 86
Have you ever truly felt déjà vu, the sensation that you’ve
already had the experience you’re currently having?
I have what must feel like déjà vu, but I am not sure if it is exactly that. Allow me to explain.
When I first close my eyes at night, I will see snippets of scenes. Sometimes very vivid, other times vague. This happens every single night (or day, depending on when I am going to bed) when I close my eyes. Days, weeks, even months later, I will witness those exact scenes in broad daylight, wide awake. I will have one of those double-take moments when familiarity washes over me and then I will remember. Oh yes, that was what I saw on such and such a night. The scenes happen every night, the recall doesn’t happen as often. It has happened often enough that you would think I’d no longer be surprised by it, but I always am. It would be cool if these scenes where ominous or spectacular, like witnessing a major event, but they are not. They are mundane, every day things that have no significance to them at all. And yet, I am still amazed at the whole thing.
How about you, dear readers? Ever have déjà vu? Share your thoughts with me in comments.
