For Honor and Duty – #Drabble
for 100 Word Challenge – Prompt: Duty
For Honor and Duty
Sargent Casey steadied his hand. Poised his laser pistol. He looked around at his comrades. Anxiety. Not a steeled one in the bunch. That was okay. At least they cared. He had no room for psychopaths in his division. They usually got someone or themselves killed.
“Any minute, men. Get ready!” he screamed over the sound of the bursting bombs.
“For God and country!” they all cried back.
The men rushed over the canyon wall. Poured down onto the red dust below. Fired their weapons at every Martian in sight. Dying for Earth. Honor. Duty.
