Award & Challenge

February 24, 2016

db-award

I’ve been given an award by Raili Tanska over at SoulGifts. Thank you, dear heart! I am most appreciative of this award. However, she is going to make me work for it. She issued me a challenge:

Your challenge, should you choose to  accept it, is to write a flash fiction NON horror story to this prompt –  Ghouls, Ghosts and Graveyards. If you want to add an extra edge limit it to 50 words!

I accepted of course. After writing 23 Horror Tales this month, this is a much needed break. So my dear, Raili, this is for you!

Around the Campfire

A gaggle of ghouls and ghosts sat around a tombstone telling tales.

“And then the human jumped out and yelled SURPRISE! Flowers, candy and a teddy bear in his arms. His wife screamed and fainted!” said one ghost.

“Stop! I will slip a stitch!” laughed a ghoul.

(50 words – title included in the count)

And now, in keeping with the spirit of awards, I issue the following writing prompt to ANYONE who wishes to participate. Snag the award badge, write the story, link back to me.

Here is the prompt:

The door busted open and in walked…

This could be a mystery, a western, a crime story, or whatever your mind can come up with. And just to make it fun, let’s make it a Drabble.. 100 words.

  4. Awesome Lori! Very clever – loved the punch line. Thank you so much 🙂

    • Thanks Raili… I figured if humans could tell ghosts stories around a campfire.. ghosts and ghouls could tell human stories around a tombstone 😀

      • Why not, I thought it was a very clever and creative interpretation of the prompt 🙂 I have just been over to have a look at Mara’s stick figure drawing. It too is priceless 🙂

  5. Fun little story! You did well to keep the horror out of it with that prompt 🙂
