365 Days of Writing Prompts: Day 20

January 20, 2016

Breaking the law

Think about the last time you broke a rule (a big one, not
just ripping the tags off your pillows). Were you burned, or
did things turn out for the best?

This is a difficult prompt because I am not in the habit of breaking the law, unless it is literary rules and then those I break as often as possible. I did steal once as a kid, but my mother broke me of that before it became a habit. I’ve never been arrested, given a speeding ticket, or beaten anyone up. The only rule that I broke was when I lived on this one street in a nearby city. The parking on these streets all had to go in the same direction and I would always park in the opposite direction. It was just easier for me than to have to drive around the block to park correctly. I did this so often that I was cited twice for it and had to pay fines. I am sure the cops were glad when I moved, even if it cut into their revenue.
