April PAD Challenge — Day Twenty-Seven

April 27, 2015

Over My Shoulder

On bent knee, you beg
to right the wrongs
of these crushed feet
these shattered arms
this silenced voice

My heart bursts forth
and in you waltz
dance on tender bruises
side-step the ruins
of crumbled dreams

I watch and wait
breath caught in my chest
the beat, beat, beat
of pumped blood runs cold
chills my brittle bones

Can I love you again
looking over my shoulder
at trails of shame?

It is all about words. Your words are enough to shatter someone's heart. Your words are enough to make a broken heart unbroken. Words have the power to change your life perspectives.
