April PAD Challenge — Day Twenty

April 20, 2015

Prompt: take the phrase “My (blank), the (blank),” replace the blanks with a word or phrase, make the new phrase the title of your poem, and then, write your poem.

My Friends, the small stones

You are a bumblebee
flitting from flower to flower
gathering nectar
that you comb back to me
with each stroke of my hair

In a boat on the lake
a line dropped in
you wait for catfish
to hook you into a daydream
far away from the pies you fly

You garden the Universe
galaxies and black holes
planting seeds of stardust
and Life Force Energy
into everyone you know

©April 2015, Lori Carlson

FYI: small stones are snapshots or vignettes of a moment, observations I set to poetry… a mindfulness technique

“pies you fly” refers to pizza delivery

It is all about words. Your words are enough to shatter someone's heart. Your words are enough to make a broken heart unbroken. Words have the power to change your life perspectives.
