April PAD Challenge — Day Sixteen

Prompt: Write a “science” poem

Thoughts on Science

I can twist my mind
around epic poems
and tome upon tome
of centuries old
histories and religions
I can strategize about war
map the human psyche
and delight in the dig
of ancient tombs

but when it comes
to hard sciences
I am at a complete loss
physics and anatomy
calculus and biology
all of those theorems
and probabilities
are like alien languages
my tongue cannot wrap around

and then I am reminded
that the analytical mind
sees numbers and symbols
in the curl of a calla lily
in the movement of the universe
in the veins of the human body
much like I see patterns of words
and the connection of verses
within my favorite poems
