If I Won the Lottery

What a blessing that would be! And really, isn’t it everyone’s dream to some day win and win big? I rarely play though. It seems like such a waste of money, but I know… you can’t win if you don’t play.

The very first thing I would do if I won would be to pay off ALL of my student loans. I am so tired of them hanging over my head.

Next, I would ensure that my immediate family was taken care of… houses paid for, scholarship funds set up for the kids, and a little money tucked away for a rainy day.

Then I would take a couple of trips that I’ve always wanted… England, Scotland, Ireland, India, Russia, Japan… maybe go see some of the great vacation spots in the US.

I have some close friends who are in as much a financial rut as I am in. I would give them enough money for a nice home, car, and a little to tide them over.

There are some charities that I believe strongly in. I would donate well to them.

Finally, I would buy me a coastal home in Maine, furnish it nicely and set me up an art studio and a writer’s office with a large library.

What I wouldn’t do with the money is spend it frivolously or extravagantly. I would try to hold true to my frugal and modest ways as much as possible. Nothing flashy or ritzy.

How about you? What would you spend your lottery winnings on?
