April PAD Challenge — Day Six

April 6, 2015

Prompt: Write a “Things-Not-As-They-Appear” poem

Inside & Out

nerves on end
hopping like June bugs
on a hot tin roof

calm & collected
poised as a porpoise
in deep sea green

mind out of sorts
racing like street kids
on skateboard ramps

attentive & alert
engaged as parishioners
in an old-time tent revival

all interests feigned
hobbies caved-in
inside an abandoned shaft

out on the town
charming & seductive
dressed to dazzle

a blinding rage inside
a meditating monk out

That’s a great poem Lori, I love how you have expressed that, and I can certainly relate to it, appearing calm and in control on the exterior while being a bundle of nerves on the inside. I have some pretty intense writings from a couple of years ago too. Never judge a book by its cover eh?
    Thanks for sharing. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you, Robynne… I am so pleased that you liked this poem. Are your intense poems on your blog? If so, I will have to check them out πŸ™‚ Thanks for stopping by!

I lost most of my writings in a hard drive crash Lori, but have a couple still that I wrote in a book. Here’s to WordPress! πŸ™‚

      • I am so sorry that happened to you, Robynne… I worry about that constantly. I bought a used external a few years back and transferred all of my work to it. I shared it with my then-husband. When I left him, I moved all of my work to a brand new one and gave the old one to him. By some weird mishap, that external crashed on him a week later. I could have lost everything and didn’t even know it. I now have a second back-up external. I also print out everything at the end of a week and keep them in 3-ring binders. I hope you are able to keep your work safe now.

What's on your mind? Let me know!
