Finding Courage

March 17, 2015

Prompt: Courage

Finding Courage

I wallowed in the mire
for years–decades even
allowed it to seep
into my bones
to fill me raw
yet, empty

Like quicksand
each struggle hastened
my retreat–
some days I welcomed
the sinking, sinking, sinking
a slow demise
the loss of self

In all that blackness
you waited
patient and calm–
You knew
I would claw you out
bring you to the surface

I once called you
an elusive bastard
but that was my black heart
seeking redemption–
Now, grey skies scattered
leave moonlit traces upon the bay

Seeking Solace in the horizon of life & beyond

It is all about words. Your words are enough to shatter someone's heart. Your words are enough to make a broken heart unbroken. Words have the power to change your life perspectives.
