April’s PAD — Day Twenty-three

April 23, 2014

prompt: write a location poem

Seaside

Sunset — I whisper goodnight
gather my things and head indoors
All night I can hear you breathing
gentle and lulling
As I sleep in your shadow, dreams
dreams carry me into your rolling arms
wrap me in your petticoats — safe, safe

Sunrise — I open the balcony door
your scent whiffs into the room
and I hear your voice calling
Come play with me
Soon I am barefoot in the sand
dancing in your waves
swimming toward your belly — secure, secure

If only every day could be like this
to delight in the ocean and just be
loved, so loved, so loved
