Poetry Prompt — a confessional poem

April 13, 2014

Admitting Defeat

Go home, go home and burrow
into her swollen breasts
that have supped three babies
pine in her big momma arms
and kiss those lips that have never lied

She waits to taste fidelity
for she has given you bone and marrow
the intimate skin off her thighs
and the heart of her womanhood

She is the constant warmth of plenty
I am cold and empty
She is guts and grit and glory
I am a coward and a thief

Go home and leave me to my shame
our passion meant everything
