Poetry Prompt — a waiting poem

April 12, 2014

Waiting

O how the night lingers
you are late again
time eats away at me
like a leftover conversation
indigestible
why do I fool myself?
loving you
is sand paper against my heart
but I am so deep
I’ve burrowed into your veins
so night after night
I cling to your lies
cradle the memories
of our last night
rocking, rocking
to the echoes of our screams
orgasmic
and wait, wait
